| Left parties may withdraw support from UPA Govt | | | |

NEW DELHI, May 6:
Communist Party of India's general secretary, AB Bardhan, has announced that the Left parties will meet after the Presidential elections to consider withdrawing support from the Congress-led coalition government at the Centre. The annoucement was made by Bardhan during his interaction with Karan Thapar on Devil's Advocate--a programme telecast by the CNN-IBN television channel.
The CPI leader revealed that he was under enormous pressure from his party and the Left to reconsider support to the government. Bardhan severely criticised Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, and Finance Minister P Chidambaram, for their policies. Said Bardhan: “This time I mean it. It is not just a threat … In fact the party is pushing me. They are telling me, again and again, what is this going on? The Government does not listen to you people. They don’t carry out any demands that you make".

Jailed Kashmiri militant, Afzal Guru, has, for no fault of the present President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam, got linked to the on-going talk in some political circles in support of the latter's continuance in Rashtrapati Bhavan after the completion of his five-year tenure in July next. The link appears to have been brought about by several Muslim members of Parliament and their co-religionists in some State Assemblies.

A Special Police Officer (SPO) posted in Police Post (PP) Pallanwala today died mysteriously inside the Post last night. Several apprehensions were laid on the mysterious death of the cop. Meanwhile, Police officials have claimed that cop was killed accidentally after falling down from the roof top of PP while performing sentry duty.
According to reports, today at around 2 in the morning, a SPO namely Brij Kishore, also a retired Army man, found dead under mysterious circumstances in the PP.
