| | | | Omar makes Iqbal churn in grave | | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, June 10: Allama Iqbal must have taken some painful churns in his grave today when Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah quoted one of his famous verses while addressing people at Khag, Beerwah and Magam.
"Surat-e-shamsheer hai dastey qaza main woh qoum ----- Karti hai jo har zaman apney amal ka hisaab." This verse is not meant for people who believe in electoral politics, or to put it plainly who play petty politics.
Anyway, Iqbal has been widely misunderstood especially in the sub-continent and Omar's `sin' is not, therefore, unpardonable. Iqbal will not lose his greatness if petty politicians use his poetry for their cheap goals.
Omar also quoted another verse ... | |
