Justice Mansoor is new HC Judge

Srinagar, July 6: Chief Justice, Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Justice Aftab Aalam administered oath to Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir at an impressive function as Judge of Jammu and Kashmir High Court here today. Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir was appointed as High Court Judge by President of India Dr. A.P.J Abul Kalam on June 28, 2007. The strength of Judges of the J&K High Court, as such, now has risen to nine. Present on the occasion were Judges of the High Court, Advocate General, Commissioner Secretary Law Department besides Judicial officers of the district Jammu, Bar Members, Advocates and staff. Mr. Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir born on April 25, 1955 joined Judicial Service as District and Sessions Judge in May 1993 after passing the Higher Judicial Examination. He remained posted as district and Sessions Judge Anantnag, District Judge Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal, Srinagar, District and Session Judge, Budgam, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar and Principal District and Session Judge Srinagar. ...

SRINAGAR, JULY 6- Sri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) has described as unfortunate raking up of controversies over the annual Amarnathji pilgrimage for the past four years, saying that vested interests were circulating misleading information over the duration of the Yatra, the Holy ice Lingam and use of helicopters. Clarifying the allegations being leveled against the Board, a spokesperson of SASB regretted that an eminent Holy man like Mahant Deependra Giri, the custodian of Chhari Mubarak, who used to manage the Yatra prior to the setting up of the Shrine Board in 2001, has been pro-active in this controversy. ISLAMABAD, JUL 6 Militants appeared to have targeted Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf today when they fired several rounds from light machine and anti-aircraft guns from a house top in Rawalpidi at the flight path he took. The Defence Ministry, however, strongly denied reports carried by television channels that the President's plane was attacked. Unidentified militants fired several rounds from a light machine gun and two anti-aircraft guns fixed on the roof top of a house located near the Chaklala military airbase in Rawalpindi from where the President's plane took off for Balochistan.
