Opposition still confused over timing, BJP starts campaign for Assembly polls | | |

Jammu, July 15: Even as opposition parties are still “confused” over the timing of the Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir, the ruling BJP has started campaigning for the much-awaited polls in the Union Territory.
While as local unit of the party is focusing on 43 Assembly segments of Jammu province, the central leadership has decided to depute Union Ministers in Valley to explore the party’s future and possibility in Kashmir.
Two Union Ministers including Minister for State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai and Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya visited Kashmir Valley.

Jammu, July 15 : Security forces conducted search operations in Jammu, Doda and Reasi districts on Monday following information about some suspicious movements, officials said.
A joint operation by police and CRPF personnel was carried out at Lower Gharota, Thathi and adjoining areas in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu early on Monday after a villager reported suspicious movement of three persons in combat attire, the officials said.
However, nothing suspicious was found during the searches that lasted for more than two hours, they said.

JAMMU, July 15: The 43-day-long Shree Machail Mata Yatra in Kishtwar district will commence on July 25, a senior government official said on Monday, assuring better facilities and enhanced security for the pilgrims.

Jammu, July 15: A fresh batch of 4,889 Amarnath pilgrims left Jammu early on Sunday for the twin base camps of Pahalgam and Baltal in Kashmir, officials said.
The pilgrims left Jammu’s Bhagwati Nagar base camp in a convoy of 187 vehicles around 3 am amid tight security, they said.
While 2,993 pilgrims, including 500 women and 11 children, will take the 48-km traditional Pahalgam route for their yatra, 1,896 pilgrims have preferred the shorter but steep 14-km Baltal route. With this batch, the number of people who started the Amarnath Yatra from Jammu is 91,202. The rest of the pilgrims have directly reached the base camps in the Valley.

Jammu, July 15: The property of an alleged drug peddler worth over Rs 1 crore was attached in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, a police officer said.
The residential house of Basid Ali was attached under Section 68(E)(F) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, he said.
