Labourers' exodus rocks Delhi

Jammu, Aug 12: In an expected backlash across the country on exodus of non-state subject labourers from Kashmir Valley, the Shiv Sena workers today held a demonstration in New Delhi, protesting against attacks in Jammu and Kashmir on people from outside the state. The Shiv Sena leaders while holding a massive protest in New Delhi questioned the silence maintained by the state government and the central government on the threat to the labourers in Kashmir coming from various parts of the country. Reports reaching here quoted the Shiv Sena leaders as saying that people from Jammu and Kashmir coming for work in different parts of the country may too have to face the similar action. They said that the central government and state government is allowing the separatists to have their own say on who should live in Jammu and Kashmir and who should not. Meanwhile, it is learnt that the BJP leaders have planned to raise the issue in the Parliament during its monsoon session. Jammu, Aug 12: Jammu and Kashmir government plans to allow selling of more items of daily use through fair price shops to provide a livelihood to educated youth and cover the areas devoid of public distribution system. Government is thinking of bringing more items of daily use for sale through fair price shops to provide more commodities to customers and ensure dignified livelihood to the educated unemployed youth, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Minister Taj Mohiuddin said. Jammu, Aug 12: Taking the Army establishment as well as the political leadership by surprise, a top Army officer said that tough and coercive measures will not help achieve peace in Kashmir. Jammu, Aug 12: A woman is reported to have exfiltrated to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) from Poonch district while militants shot dead a Special Police Official in a remore village of Kishtwar district. Reports said, Naseema Akhtar daughter of Mohmmad Jamal crossed over to PoK via Line of Control from Digwar area of Poonch district last night. Her family reported the matter to the police. Meanwhile, a Special Police Officer (SPO) was today shot dead by militants in Kishtwar district. ET SPECIAL Jammu, Aug 12: Perhaps for the first time in the judicial history of the country, the Prime Minister's Office has returned a proposal for the appointment of High Court Judges to the Supreme Court. It is reliably learnt that the Prime Minister has send the file to the Law Ministry with note to forward the same to the Supreme Court. One of the Judges whom the Prime Minister did not approve for appointment to the Supreme Court belongs to the Jammu and Kashmir High Court while the other Judge is from the Gujarat High Court.
