NEW DELHI, SEPT. 19: Pakistani intelligence establishment is just reported to have asked Syed Salahuddin, chief of dreaded Hizbul Mujahideen militant organisation, to make up his mind for anouncing a Ramazan ceasefire in Kashmir. Salahuddin is currently based in Rawalpindi, according to reports reachin here from Lahore.
The Hizbul Mujahideen supremo is also the chief of the United Jihad Council (UJC). Reports point out that the Pakistani intelligence establishment's move is motivated by the September 17 meeting in Havana between Gen. Parvez Musharraf and Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh.
The meeting has finally kick-started the stalled Indo-Pakistan dialogue process. Reports from Lahore stated that the ceasefire would be aimed at presurising India to withdraw or reduce troops from four border districts of Kashmir and thus push the peace process forward. Indian Defence Minister, Pranab Mukherje, has, meanwhile, ruled out the withdrawal or reduction of troops in Jammu and Kashmir in the given situation.
