Municipal ward reservation list worries JK parties

Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 7: Even as the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Pandurang K Pole has issued a fresh list reserving 358 municipal wards out of 1,119 for women and sought objections and suggestions to it within a week, the list has left some of the Kashmir based political parties allegedly “worried about their vote bank stakes.” According to data released by the election department, of the 1,119 wards of 77 municipal bodies in the Union territory, 358 wards have been reserved for women. Eighty-six wards have been reserved for SC and 14 for ST. In accordance with section 10-A of the Jammu & Kashmir Municipal Corporation Act, 2000, and Section 11-A of the Jammu & Kashmir Municipal Act, 2000, wards are to be reserved for women, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, the CEO said in the notification issued on September 5. Early Times Report Srinagar, Sept 7: Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a “hybrid” terrorist of “The Resistance Front” in Srinagar, police said on Thursday. The “hybrid” terrorist of TRF, believed to be a shadow group of Lashkar-e-Taiba was identified by police as Mohammad Yawar Rangrez, a resident of Firdousabad Batamaloo Srinagar. Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 7: A Pakistani flag attached with scores of balloons were found in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district, police said on Thursday. Regulation of dark patterns on online platforms: Govt seeks public comments

Agencies NEW DELHI, Sept 7: The Government has sought public comments on draft guidelines for prevention and regulation of “dark patterns” which are nothing but tactics used by online players to deceive customers or manipulate their choices. The draft guidelines, issued by the Consumer Affairs Ministry, list various deceptive practices being adopted by online platforms in the nature of dark patterns which are against the interests of consumers. The ministry has sought public comments/suggestions on the draft guidelines within 30 days till October 5, an official statement said.
