Embezzlement of hospital funds: Deadline ends, inquiry panel yet to submit report

Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 6: The 15-day deadline, set by the higher authorities, has expired but the panel failed to submit its report in connection with the embezzlement of funds of the district hospital Kulgam. On August 21, the Health and Medical Education (H&ME) department suspended three officials including the former Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Kulgam in connection with an embezzlement of Hospital Development Funds worth crores. A two-member committee was also constituted on August 21 to enquire about the matter and submit a report within a period of 15 days. “Sanction is, hereby, accorded to the constitution of a two-member inquiry committee to enquire into the embezzlement of hospital Development funds of District Hospital, Kulgam while taking into account, the preliminary inquiry as conducted by the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir as well as all other connected documents/evidence,” reads an order issued by the government. Agencies New Delhi, Sept 6: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday that the Nataraja statue installed at Bharat Mandapam, the convention centre which will host key G20 summit meetings, will stand as a testament to India’s age-old artistry and traditions. He was responding on X to the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts’s post about the statue which, it said, is made of Ashtadhatu. “The 27 feet tall, 18-ton-weight statue is the tallest statue made of Ashtadhatu and is sculpted by the renowned sculptor Radhakrishnan Sthapaty of Swami Malai in Tamil Nadu and his team in a record 7 months. 34 generations of Radhakrishnan have been making idols since the Chola Empire period. ...

Agencies New Delhi, Sept 6:Ahead of the G20 Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today spelt out a set of dos and don’ts to be observed by ministers during the two-day event to ensure that the visiting dignitaries are not put to any inconvenience, sources said. The ministers have been asked to ditch their official vehicles and use the shuttle service to reach the Bharat Mandapam and other venues of various meetings. 2 terrorists killed, infiltration bid foiled in Poonch

Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 6: Two terrorists were killed on Wednesday as army troops foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman said. While the body of one terrorist was recovered along with war-like stores, the search operation for another is going on, Jammu-based defence PRO Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said. Agencies Bhopal, Sept 6: The Election Commission of India is ready to act as per constitutional provisions and the Representative of the People (RP) Act, said Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar on Wednesday in the context of ‘one nation, one election’. Kumar and other top ECI officials were on a visit to Bhopal to hold meetings with political parties and the administration and enforcement agencies over election preparedness in BJP-governed Madhya Pradesh, where polls are due by November.
