J&K: Major administration reshuffle on cards

Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 5: The Jammu and Kashmir administration is likely to go for a major reshuffle in the civil and the police administration soon. Sources said it would be the first such major reshuffle of 2023 wherein some of the officials at key postings would be transferred. The sources said a decision in this regard has been taken after a briefing from the Union government that there was “need for the reshuffle to uphold the deliverance of good governance.” The sources privy to the development said a meeting in this regard was likely to be called soon whereby apart from the heads of the departments, the Senior Superintendents of Police of various districts and the District Development Commissioners would also be transferred. Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 5: Security forces today extended the search operation to adjoining villages to track down a terrorist who managed to escape from a remote village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district, officials said. While one terrorist was killed and two security personnel injured in the initial gunfight at Gali Sohab village in Tuli area today, the second terrorist slipped out from the cordoned house located on a slope, taking advantage of rough terrain, the officials said. Defence Minister to inaugurate 90 BRO projects

Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 5: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will on September 12 inaugurate 90 infrastructure projects of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) including four airstrips and helipads built along the northern and western borders, a spokesperson of the ministry on Tuesday said. The projects includes 21 roads, 64 bridges, one tunnel, two air strips, and two helipads, he said. Singh will visit Samba district and inaugurate Devak bridge on Bishnah-Kaulpur-Phulpur road, he said. The bridge is a part of the 90 infrastructure projects of the BRO. 2 narcotics smugglers get 20-year jail sentence

Early Times Report Srinagar, Sept 5: A court in Jammu Kashmir’s Kupwara district awarded 20-year rigorous imprisonment to two narcotics smugglers on Tuesday. In a landmark verdict , the Court of Additional Sessions Judge issued judgment against two individuals involved in a narcotics smuggling case, sentencing them to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment, along with a rupees two lakh fine for each of the two accused. The convicted individuals, Syed Ishfaq Shah and Khursheed Ahmad Gojar, both residents of Jabdi Karnah, were arrested in connection with FIR No.56/2019 at Police Station Karnah.
