Of poetic justice, protocol breach on R-Day
Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 27: It was a distinct example of poetic justice at display during function of Republic Day in the summer capital, when a former IAS Officer who was shown the door by the PDP when the party was in power took salute at the main function in the summer capital and PDP's senior leader who was a Minister when the coalition created hurdles in making this IAS Officer the Chief Secretary of the state in September 2015 was getting annoyed for not being allocated a suitable seat at the venue as per the 'protocol'.
The story goes back to September 2015 when PDP-BJP coalition was ruling the state and the then government picked up an IAS Officer of its choice as Chief Secretary of the state while superseding four other senior officers.
The present Advisor to Governor was left behind despite the fact that he was senior to his colleague who was picked up for the top post. Annoyed over such decision, he at that time termed it a sheer injustice.
However, merely four years later, the tables turned around. The PDP was left powerless on June 19, last year and Governor's rule was imposed in the state. The same IAS officer who was left in lurch by the PDP government was chosen as Governor's advisor.
On January 26, this year, when the PDP leader was no longer a minister went to attend the Republic Day parade in Srinagar.
Perhaps he forgot that he was no longer a minister. He wanted a special seat for himself which he wasn't granted with. Annoyed and disgruntled, he left the venue in haste.
Later, he told media that there was a breach of protocol and even held Raj Bhavan responsible for this. "Ever since the present honourable Governor has come, he has always targeted the political class in the state and I think that message has gone down to the lowest level of bureaucracy who have now found it very routine to disrespect the institutions and even go to the extent of insulting them," he said.
According to the former Minister, it was unfortunate that on one hand constitution was being celebrated and on the other, leader of the largest legislative party in the Council was ignored the right place which he deserves in the protocol.
Later on, an independent legislator from Kashmir took potshots at the PDP leader, wanting him to recall the old days when he as a minister ignored the Officer who took the salute and the PDP leader was busy finding a space for himself. "See the plans of God and how he granted a respectable position to an Officer whom you disrespected in your government," the legislator said in a video that he uploaded on his social media page.
