`Corruption biggest challenge'
9/11/2012 11:49:20 PM

Early Times Report
BARAMULLA, Sept 11: Former Minister and Member AICC Abdul Gani Vakil today said that Congress will form the next Government on its own as the people are too much fed up with coalition system and sentimental slogans of regional parties whether it is a slogan of autonomy or self rule.
He said people are interested in development and corruption free society but it is unfortunate that the corruption is increasing in coalition system and the development is stagnated. Vakil was addressing a public meeting at Sialkot Rafiabad in district Baramulla today.
Describing corruption as one of the biggest challenges before the State, he said there is dire need of checking corruption at all levels so that Central funds meant for State reach down up to grassroot level. "Bureaucratic hurdles must be done away with so that people have direct access to the Government", he added.
Vakil urged Chief Minister to take notice of adverse reports and irregularities against different department's regularly appearing in newspapers. He said if these reports get unnoticed, the credibility of the coalition Government will get eroded.
He lambasted PDP for crying and criticizing the coalition Government and said that it is their leadership who made a political blunder in 2008 by withdrawing support to the efficient Government headed by Ghulam Nabi Azad and brought into existence the present coalition.
He said if they would have not committed this political blunder the political situation would have been different in the State today. "PDP leadership is responsible for the revival and rebirth of National Conference", he said.
Exhorting the workers to strengthen Congress, the veteran leader said that the only easy way for this is to serve the people wholeheartedly. "Madam Sonia Gandhi herself refused the post of Prime Minister and instead preferred to serve the people", he said.
He said that all party men particularly Ministers have to work hard in addressing as well as redressing the problems of the common people so that party gets further strengthened.
Those who addressed the gathering include MLC Haji Ali Bhat, general secretary J&K PCC Dr. Abdul Ahad Yatoo, Youth Congress Assembly presidents of Sangrama and Rafiabad Sheikh Manzoor and Altaf Ahmad Malik.
