Pandits warn self styled leaders for dialogue process with separatists

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 11: The Kashmiri Pandits have taken serious exception to some self styled leaders from the community taking part in dialogue process with the separatists and termed it a dangerous move. Various KP organizations while commenting on such an action said that this will not be in the interests of the community as the same will have serious repercussions.
The PK convener Dr. Agnishekhar has recently warned these self styled persons from the community of serious consequences and termed their action as a sell out. He said there can be no compromise with the merchants of death who are responsible for hounding out of over seven lakh Kashmiri Pandits from Valley killing of over one thousand members of the community, looting their properties and setting their residential houses and religious places ablaze.
Dr. Agnishekhar has said that Pandits will not allow such a move to succeed as they will expose all those persons who are hobnobbing with the separatists and compromising the interests of the community with them.
``Why to have any reconciliation move with separatists who are responsible for our destruction and devastation,'' said Kundan Kashmiri, president Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) while talking to this reporter.
He said the Bita Karate is on record to say that he has killed dozens of KPs and there are other militants too whose hands ARE soaked in the blood of Kashmiri Hindus and the Government has till date failed to take action against them. Instead of demanding action against these terrorists these self styled leaders are hobnobbing with the separatists and compromising the interests of the community with them.
It may be recalled that three days meet was organised under track -two diplomacy, at Srinagar from September 8 to 10 in which besides the members of majority community and some KP leaders also participated.
The leaders of the two communities debated over various issues to find out the ways and means regarding resolving of present conflict and bringing the two communities tighter. But one the major drawback to such meetings which were held many times in the past also is that the hardliner and fundamentalist Muslims who rule the roost in Kashmir and were running a parallel administration in Valley have attached no importance to such meetings. These Muslim groups have however tried to thrust their own agenda which they have been pursuing since 1989 after the militancy broke in Kashmir Valley.
The hardliner radical Muslim groups among Muslims including Syeed Ali Shah Geelani has already rejected such moves. Geelani had gone to the extent of saying recently that RSS was trying to make inroads in Kashmir Valley by settling the Hindus here to erode the special Constitutional status of the State. Geelani and his supporters also tooth and nail opposed the settlement of Pandits at transit camps and said that in case they want to return they should be settled in their original habitations.
This suggestion is unacceptable to majority of the Kashmiri Pandits as they fear another backlash in view of prevailing secessionist movement in Kashmir supported by Pakistan.
The Pandits can't return to their original habitations said PL Koul Budgami, convener Kashmiri Hindu Council (KHC). Lashing out those Pandit leaders who are hobnobbing with separatists on the return move he said this process will boomerang and the community will have to pay a serious price if these self styled leaders are not stalled and their activities checked.
The community is willing to return provided it is settled at a one place in Valley so that it will not feel scared of any backlash in future and live with dignity and honour, said Budgami who warned the self styled leaders to restrain their activities and not to play with the interests of the community and its future generation.
