| Saroori being downplayed to 'create cake' for a dark horse....? | | 'Name Game' on reshuffle within Congress | | ET Report
jammu, Sept 13: Amidst an intense round of speculations on Cabinet reshuffle and the speculative stories as to why Congress should or should not take GM Saroori on board as Minister, the hard talk goes that it is the 'kingmaker' Ghulam Nabi Azad himself who is once again interested in deferring the probable move of effecting the reshuffle in J&K. The grapevine is that Azad and his kin are actually working overnight to 'create the cake' and pave way for smooth entry of a dark horse into the Cabinet, who is at present not in race or reckoning.
According to sources even though the J&K Pradesh Congress chief Prof Saif-u-Din Soz has lately shown keen interest that Chief Minister should go ahead with the move of effecting reshuffle and expansion of the Cabinet, an exercise which would ensure return of at least important portfolios back to Congress, it is the Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad who is now showing reluctance to urgency of the step, something which antagonizes the stand of the JKPCC leadership. In the war of nerves and wits within the Congress factions, this issue is turning out to be that of one up man ship with both the stalwarts, with both taking opposed stands at this juncture when things are little tedious and complicated for Azad in terms of the problem he faces with three strong contenders in erstwhile Doda district.
Sources said though Azad has maintained silence over the issue for a long time, he is actually interested in accommodating one of his staunch loyalist , a choice which is being strongly favoured by his close relatives in the State. Sources said his family members in Jammu have already been selling the name of the 'dark horse' in power corridors for the move if fructifies , it would ensure pushing and promoting their own interests on various fronts. Sources also said that it is in the backdrop of this 'willful' step, that GM Saroori's possible entry is being strongly played down in political and power corridors besides media.
Azad who is known for playing his cards not ahead of time, is thus interesting in avoiding the name of the person he is inclined to accommodate, to get circulated at present for apparent reasons. Sources, however, contended that in the backdrop of the noise over Saroori's name (which is more a cooked one), the reason and inability to take him on board would be finally ascribed to lack of consensus over his re-induction into the Cabinet and this would finally help entry of the person , not in reckoning at present in the game. Sources said by playing this move, Azad would counter the attempts of the rival faction where people are waiting for any such step that would result in aggravating political problems for Azad in Doda district. |
