Javed not involved in IC-184 hijacking: IGP Jammu | Separatist hardliner manages 'visa to Javed for Pak' | | Early Times Report jammu, Sept 13: In a sharp contrast to the media reports about arrest of suspect of hijacking of IC-184, in 1999, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone Dilbagh Singh today said it indeed is a major breakthrough for security forces though he (Javed) had no involvement in the hijacking of IC-814 plane but was trying to rejuvenate dying insurgency. "There was no evidence about the involvement of arrested terrorist Mehraj-u-Din Wani alias Javed son of G.A. Dar of Sopore in the Kandahar plane hijacking," IGP Jammu Zone told journalists in a specially convened press conference here in winter capital. While replying volley of questions, Singh said that Javed had direct relations with the top ISI officials and he was allegedly working with the D-Company of the Dawood Ibrahim after he established contacts with them in Pakistan. Javed was also being helped by an 'unspecified embassy' for the supply of arms and fake currency in parts of India, he added. Describing his arrest as a big catch for the State Police, the IGP, said once he could not manage a visa for Pakistan following which he approached the hardliner Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani for help. "Geelani allegedly handed him a letter after which a visa was issued to Javed for Pakistan," the IGP again said, while quoting questioning of the arrested militant in police custody. Singh said, "We have learnt from his interrogation that he had information about the blast in Lajpat Nagar but his involvement in this case also did not surfaced. He knew the accused of Lajpat Nagar blast namely Bilal Beigh and Javed Guru." Senior police official said that his interrogation is in progress to ascertain various other militancy related activities in the State and the country since last two decades. Briefing about the apprehended top catch by police from Kishtwar, Singh said that the arrested ultra Javed joined militancy in 1987-88 and went to Pakistan for arms training in 1989. "On his return to Kashmir back within three months from Pakistan, he was arrested and lodged in Kotbhalwal Central jail where he met United Jihad Council (UJC) supremo , Syed Sallahudin," he said. "Javed was released from the custody in 1990 he said, adding," he however, again cross the border and went to Pakistan. "Thereafter the said ultra joined Muslim Mujahedeen there and return back in the State but was arrested and slapped PSA, he said. He got released in 1992, the top police officer said and travelled to Pakistan using a fake pass post. In 1995, he met Javed Guru in Pakistan and other top militant commanders besides establishing contacts with Islamic Front. "He again crossed the border from other side and settled in Delhi and Saharanpur from where he was running his activities i.e. supplied hawala money and fake currency since he was working for the ISI and Dawood Ibrahim," he informed The IG said after the blast at Lajpat Nagar, he again crossed to Pakistan and on return, settled in the neighbouring country Nepal where he married to a Hindu woman. He said that intelligence inputs were developed about his presence in Kishtwar where a raid was conducted and he was arrested last night. IGP apprehending that Javed came to Kishtwar district to revive the militancy, however, he told during interrogation the he had come for medical treatment.
