"Within short span of its formation, the PDP has earned faith and credibility of the people of Jammu and Kashmir", Mufti said while addressing a function to welcome large number of people from Ramgarh and Vijaypur areas who joined PDP under the leadership of Yashpal Sharma of Ramgarh. Sayeed reminded the gathering that during its tenure the PDP led regime had proved its capability of changing life of the common masses by treating all individual equally and providing equal opportunities to all sections of the society. "Having tasted the good governance during our tenure, the people had hope that the present regime headed by National Conference would also follow the path of its predecessor but this regime has failed to provide even basic amenities to the common masses", he observed and regretted that the process of equitable development, which was started during PDP-Congress regime was derailed after formation of the present regime. He mentioned that PDP led regime had brought transparency and accountability in the governance by strengthening democratic institutions in the state and informed the gathering that more than 70,000 youth were appointed as teachers under Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) scheme and more than 30,000 Anganwari workers were also appointed during his tenure. Reiterating his resolve to remove regional disparities, former Chief Minister said his government had set an example of equitable and balanced development in Jammu and Kashmir. "Credit goes to the PDP-Congress regime that first time after 1947, all regions were treated equally in developmental and other activities", he maintained. Speaking on the occasion veteran leader Yashpal Sharma of Poonch termed Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as statesman who never compromised with his principles just for the sake of the power. Yashpal Sharma from Ramgarh, who joined PDP today, also spoke on the occasion and said he along with supporters have decided to join the party due to the policies and programmes of the party. |
