| VC, JU inaugurates computer science website | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 24: Department of Computer Science and IT, University of Jammu today organized Induction Program for the fresh batch of MCA students for the session 2012. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor of university Prof. M.P. S. Isher was the Chief Guest. Prof. Devanand, Dean Faculty of the Mathematical Sciences and Prof. Naresh Padha, Registrar, University of Jammu were also present on the occasion as Guest of Honors. Department organized this program as a formal welcome function for MCA 1st semester students and also to launch the website www.dcsju.in along with felicitation of students of the department for their achievements in various national, inter-university and regional level events. It is pertinent to mention here that some students of the department participated in the IT fest "VastoorVan" recently organized by Islamic University, Kashmir and got 8 medals out which 4 were gold medals in various technical events.
Prof. Isher inaugurated the departmental website and also appreciated the achievements of the students in various events. He congratulated the department for organizing the induction program for MCA students along with the launch of website of department.
Earlier speaking on the occasion, Prof. Vibhakar Mansotra Head, DCS & IT, apprised the gathering about the overall achievements of the department particularly in regard to faculty, infrastructure, hardware, software and various courses presently run by Department.
Prof. Devanand in his address stressed upon the students to work hard and grab the best possible opportunities in the stream of Computer Science and Information Technology.
Prof. Naresh Padha, Registrar, University of Jammu also spoke on the occasion and wished a successful career waiting ahead to the MCA freshers. The other esteemed guests present on the occasion included Prof. Neelam Saraf, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. N K Tripathi, Dean Student Welfare, Prof V. D. Singh, Director Ramnagar campus, Jai Kumar Sharma OSD to VC, Dr. Lalit Sen Sharma, associate professor, faculty members of the department, officials of the University, technical and non-technical staff, research scholars and students of the department. |
