Group Song Competition held
"Display Your Talent 2012"

Jammu, Sept 24: A "Group Song Competition" held here today in the "Display Your Talent 2012" event organized by the Department of Student Welfare (DSW) at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium in Jammu University in which teams of students drawn from various degree colleges across the Jammu Division participated.
The theme of the Group Song Competition was "Patriotic Songs" and "Folk Songs" through which the students expressed their feeling for the motherland by defining its beauty, rich cultural heritage and the bond of unity in diversity that holds the people from different states and region into one string of Patriotism and Country-hood.
Students sang songs in Dogri, Punjabi, Haryanvi and Folk songs of Uttar Pradesh having essence of our rich Cultural Heritage.
The first three winner teams were awarded with prizes while many were honoured with the certificate of merit.
First prize was bagged by the choir from Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar that was appreciated by all the audiences and judges. The wording of the songs were like "Hum Apne Sadkarmon Se, Mile-Jule Sab Dharmon Se, Teri Utaaren Aarti, Jai janani, Jai Bharti".
The team from GCW, Parade bagged second prize and third prize was bagged by the team of GDC (Boys) Udhampur.
The Certificates of Merits were awarded to Maharaja Bachitar Singh (MBS) College of Engineering and Technology and Government Maulana Azad Memorial (MAM) College.
On the occasion Chairman Campus Cultural Committee, Professor Jasbir Singh was the Chief Guest. While speaking on the occasion, Singh appreciated the young students for their active participation in Display Your Talent programme and also informed that the winners of the event would be given an opportunity for participation in the forthcoming Inter-University Youth Festival.
The other participating teams included GDC, Samba, GDC Kathua, The Law School University of Jammu, Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) and Government Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Degree College, Hiranagar.
Praduman Singh, Nand Kishore Pal and Sham Sajan, were the experts for this event.
The programme was compeered by Vaibhav Sharma.
Among others present on the occasion included NK Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, Anupama Vohra, Vijay Atri, Nidhi Kaila, Anshu Bala and various teachers Incharge.
