| No record of power theft in Div-I, State Govt deptts owe Rs 7232.026 lakh | | | Sumit Sharma Jammu, Sept 29: Believe or not but according to officials there is no record of power theft in EM&RE Div-I, however, records indicate that State Government departments including PHE department located under the said division yet are defaulters and owe Rs 7232.026 lakh to Power Development Department. According to official records i.e. while replying to RTI application having No CEJ/RTI/101/82-83 filed by High Court advocate Kovid Khosla, PIO of Div No 1, Parade in reply revealed all this. Here it needs to mention that the Div-I comprises a vast spread of area which includes Jammu city, Sidhra, Jandrah, Manda and some other adjoining areas. While replying to the information seeker who had sought information about power consumption by consumers of EM&RE Div 1, besides yearly losses in rupees for theft of electricity and total amounts in rupees yet to be recovered as rent from the users falling under the jurisdiction of said division, the PIO stated revealed the yearly revenue realized during 2011 to 2012 as Rs 7716.023 lakh. But what was surprising here, the PDD department on records admitted that there is no record of yearly losses in rupees on account of theft of electricity. PIO PDD Div -I, further had admitted that as per record available the total electricity arrears of different categories including State Government departments and PHE Department in respect of EM&RE Div-I are Rs 7232.026 lakh ending 7/2012, further adding the efforts on to recover the pending arrears by resorting to disconnection of electric connections of the defaulters. RTI reply further reveals that employees of PDD enjoy choice postings even beyond completion of duty tenure. The department also revealed one Padam Singh son of Hukam Singh of Sidhra has been working in the same place as lineman for the last 11 years, even after getting regularization in the department. Meanwhile, XEN of the said division AK Shibber when contacted said that PDD department can have access of loss in terms of unit and not in rupees. |
