| J-K Minister, officials to go 'abroad trips' while State is passing through 'financial crunch' | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 20: State Government employees who were demanding their dues are left perplexed over the recent reports appeared in certain media section that Minister of Tourism and a selective team of officers will be on foreign trips spree covering atleast six nations. And this happened when State Government is on a defensive foot to counter employees demand including arrears of 6th Pay Commission. This proposed extravagant visit to six foreign nations came right as the bolt from the blue not only to protesting employees but also to commoner also who observed that schedule of the proposed foreign trips seems to be hastily. "As Italy is known as greatest mosaic of ancient history, I wonder what prompted the proposal maker to pick it and Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand the trio are known destination of tourism if our privileged visiting team would be able to woo tourism at this 'triangle of east and historically known city of Italy,' said Ashok Sharma a trader dealing with adventure activities and tours. Wondering over this mis-adventure of the team another tour operator, however, on authorized anonymity questioned the vision of the proposed visit and said their visit has faulted by picking the top tourist spots especially when you have nothing to strike on. "Will they showcase routine hartal of Valley, he said further adding, "dress code dictates and etc. that were hit during the peak season of the tourism June- July this year.' "Instead of combating some 'foreign advisories' against visit to Valley, which would be more or less an extravagant exercise, they should focus on local tourism and should visit the States from where large number of tourists visit during Amarnath Pilgrimage and develop infrastructure to sustain the tourism in State, asserted Ram Prakash a retired Government employee. Revealing the facts, media reports has pin pointed that in a bid to so called promotion of J&K Tourism and to lure the foreign tourists to State, the Minister for Tourism Rigzin Jora along with a team comprising MoS Tourism Nasir Aslam Wani, Commissioner Secretary Tourism Atul Dulu, Managing Director Tourism Satish Nehru, Director Tourism Kashmir Talat Aziz, Director Tourism Jammu S Robin Singh, Addl Secy Tourism and Culture Leena Padha and Asstt Director Tourism, Leh, Sonam Dorje will be on a lavish visit to six nations viz Italy, Brazil, Argentina, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Besides opposition leaders namely Jugal Kishore MLA BJP and Ashwani Sharma MLA JSM, local political parties have criticized the said proposed visit nothing but a futile exercise. It really would not be out of context to mention that State Government time and again has claimed that State is passing through 'financial crunch' when it comes to take upon the demands of the employees protesting for their demands including arrears of 6th Pay Commission and etc. Not only the State Government employees but the ReTs, ReZs and unemployed agriculture technocrats, VRS-SRTC employees too have been highlighting their demands but the present regime has only one 'potent weapon' in its arsenal i.e. financial crunch. Here it needs to mention the State Government earlier also had practiced this formula when a high level teams headed by Tourism Minister had enjoyed abroad and national trips in a bid to promote tourism in State but sane and millions dollar question here is if all such attempts have succeeded any raised tourism influx or not and which perhaps is negative. |
