| CM reacts to Geelani 's stir call against road for Amarnath Yatra | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 20: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has once again hit out at his political adversaries, in mainstream politics as well as in separatist camp for what he sees through their consistent efforts to disturb peace and create law and order problem in the state with statements, which according to CM are based on falsehood and rumours. It was the first official reaction three days after to Hurriyat leader Ali Shah Geelani's threatening to launch stir against construction of road along Amarnath Yatra route. The Chief Minister hit out at Geelani in person and other politicians, albeit without naming any, in general, while speaking in a function at Shopian village. However, his reaction created more confusion than any clarity as to the stand and position of state Government vis-à-vis augmenting of facilities for Amarnath Yatra pilgrims. While Omar Abdullah came down heavily upon Geelani for his attempts to create law and order problem by giving such statements which incite the masses, is a natural reaction from the head of the state who is expected to take care of ensuring peace and stability in state. That he took a dig at him and others contending that some people have become habitual of circulating unfounded and false rumours to mislead public opinion and disturb peace, is also on expected quarters . Omar is quite right when he says for such people and politicians it has become their style to indulge in such things very often as they want to thrive on false propaganda. But it was certainly pathetic of him to give a sort of clarification to the separatist leader by repeatedly making it clear that there is no such project that Government has taken in hand nor is there permanent road being constructed along any of the two routes. One wonders does it behove well of a Chief Minister to give clarification a note that he even asks the separatist leader to go through the 200 page document which his Government has submitted to Supreme Court ………ask him, no matter in sarcastic and ridiculing tone that he will provide helicopter to Geelani and he better see it for himself in the aerial view of tracks no macadam has been laid on the route, not even over one metre of the track. ….." While it is understood that Chief Minister has once again played to political galley and tried to address his constituency that there is no such plan of his Government to undertake such works, by indirectly lashing out at Geelani and accusing him of spreading only rumours . As for ensuring that masses do not get provoked by Geelani's agitation call after Eid, one appreciates that taking a dig at hardline separatist leader was necessary. But all these utterings have only created confusion and doubts at the duplicity and intensions of NC led Government whether they are really not interested nor in a position (politically), to augment basic infrastructure for pilgrims of Shri Amarnath Yatra. |
