| Poor show by J&K, allows AP to recover | | Ranji Trophy Group-C match | | early times report JAMMU, Nov 24: After their poor show with only 153 runs in the first innings, Jammu and Kashmir allowed visiting Andhra Pradesh side to recover from a poor beginning to pile up 118 for four on the opening day of the Ranji Trophy group-C match started at GGM Science College hostel ground, here today. Making 153 runs in their first innings, J&K well defended the total when they sent three AP batsmen, including openers, to the pavilion for just eight runs on board in 3.2 overs. However, the host bowlers could not grab the opportunity and allowed the visitors to pile up good total of 104 runs for the fifth wicket stand in 24 overs. The sensible batting by the duo of B Sumanth and AA Muzumdar, in fact, stabilized the AP innings and when the stumps were drawn, the side was comfortably placed at 118 for four in 30 overs. Earlier, AP lost their first two batsmen on duck and third man to go, T Atchuta could make just four runs. However, B Sumanth and Muzumdar (batting) played fine innings of 41 and 60 runs respectively. Ram Dayal, who earlier made highest 31 runs from J&K, bowled a brilliant spell taking first two wickets. Earlier, J&K, in their first innings could not do well and bowled out for 153 runs in 50.5 overs in the post lunch session. Two cricketers from J&K, Anoop Magotra and SS Sharma made their first-class debute in today's match. Now, Andhra need just 35 runs with six wickets remaining to match the first innings total of J&K. Earlier, amidst controversies, the troublesome Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) failed in their efforts to convince the protesting cricketers from Kashmir and had no other choice but to field a side comprised of only Jammu boys led by Ian Dev Singh.
