International Day for persons with disabilities observed

Jammu, Dec 4: The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was observed at Govt. High School Sure Chak Apna Van under the aegis of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Zone Satwari in which 400 students of various government schools, members of Parent-Teachers Associations and Mother-Teachers Associations, teachers and resource teachers participated and throw lights on the importance of week long celebrations in connection with World Disability Day. In the programme several Children with Special Needs (CWSN) of government, private schools and Aanganwari Centres of Satwari Zone also participated. ZEO Satwari Parveen Akhter was the Chief Guest whereas ZEPO Satwari Sardar Gurvinder Singh presided over the programme.
On the occasion, differently able children along with other children presented various cultural items and games. Particularly the students of Govt. High School Raipur Satwari, Govt. High School Sure Chak and Govt. High School Barjala presented well prepared gidha dance, skits, patriotic songs and poems under the able guidance of their teachers namely Mohan Singh Choudhray, Vijay Bhasin, Tahira Choudhary and Narinder Singh Chib. All the Children with Special Needs and other participants of cultural programmes and games were awarded with special gift packs and awards besides refreshment to all students, parents and teachers.
In his address Zonal Education Officer Satwari Parveen Akhter said that the main objective of the World Disability Day is to remove the problems faced by special children in their daily life. She stressed upon the teachers to enroll special children in their schools with out any hurdle and make class rooms disabled friendly. She assured full support to special children who studied in government and private schools of educational zone Satwari.
Prominent among others during the programme include Ashok Dhar, Narayan Baru, Karan Singh, Mohinder Lal, Amit Dutta, Kulwant Singh, Harjeet Singh, Zafar Hussian, Ajmer Singh, Ajit Kour, Nirmal Kumari, Murat Kour, Bupesh Choudhary and Suman Kumari.
