| One more person mauled by bear in Kishtwar | | Increasing incidents of Man-animal conflict worry Chatroo people | | Kishtwar, Dec 7 : In another incident of man-animal conflict, 2nd in less than 24 hours, a 45-year old shepherd identified as Krishan Lal son of Tara Chand resident of Sambool Chatroo was attacked by a bear at Khanpura Dadpath in Chatroo Tehsil of Kishtwar District while he was grazing his flock. According to Krishan Chand the bear suddenly appeared in front him and attacked his face and legs. some people arrived at the scene and forced the bear to flee. He was later shifted to District Hospital Kishtwar where he is undergoing treatment. Krishan Lal received at least 16 stitches in his head and beside the bear has mauled his legs.No officials of the wildlife department turned up at hospital to inquire about the injured shepherd. People informed the "Early Times" that the place where the incident took place is situated in populated area and many people fear for their safety and security. They have urged the forest minister to issue directions to the officials of wildlife department Kishtwar to take necessary efforts to prevent recurrence of such incidents. They have also demanded compensation for the victim. Another victim of man-animal conflict 22 year old Jameel Ahmed son of Taj Din Gujjar resident of Sigdi Mazna Tehsil Chatroo is battling for his life at Government Medical College Jammu after he was attacked by the bear yesterday. Injured Jameel Ahmed father of two children belongs to a poor family and it was after donations collected by the local people of Kishtwar that he was shifted to Jammu for treatment. |
