| Sonika’s pain moves ED | | Erring teacher placed under suspension | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Dec 7: Taking strong exception to corporeal punishment awarded to a minor girl in Rajouri, the Department of Education has placed the erring teacher under suspension. Confirming the reports, chief education officer, Rajouri Makhan Lal Sharma said “On the directions of the DDC the teacher has been placed under suspension and Zonal Education Officer, Peeri has been directed to prepare a charge sheet against him after proper verification of the allegations leveled against the teacher. On November, 30 the accused teacher, Dheeraj Kumar thrashed the girl at her righthand causing blood coagulation in her veins. On December, 2 whenSonika could not bear the severe pain she told her mother about theincident and accordingly her father brought her to district hospitalfor medical check up. On the complaint of the parents and the victim, identified as Sonika Devi daughter of Bablu Kumar, a student of 4th class in government middle school at Nagari under Peeri education zone, the police registered an FIR NO 648/ 12 under sections 323/325/341 RPC. The erring teacher is absconding. Sonika was admitted in the hospital on Thursday and after minor surgery today doctors removed pus from the fingers caused due to blood coagulation. The doctor attending her said there was no fracture and only swelling and pus probably caused due to beating by stick. After minor operation pus was removed and Sonika was discharged in the evening today” sources said.
