EARLY TIMES REPORT Kishtwar, Dec 7: Army's 8-Rashtriya Rifles has sponsored educational tour of 22 youths with two teachers from remote and far flung villages of district Kishtwar to the historic cities of Trivandrum, Coimbatore and Ooty. According to a defence communiqué Major General A K Singh, SM, GOC, Delta Force flagged off the tour. "In order to inculcate a sense of belongingness and national integration amongst the children residing in this remote area of Jammu and Kashmir, an educational tour to Trivandrum, Coimbatore and Ooty has been undertaken under Operation Sadhbhavna," it said. All the children,s after spending 16 days in visiting Trivandrum, Coimbatore and Ooty will return to Kishtwar on December 23. During this tour, the children's would be introduced to the rich tradition, heritage, culture and scientific advances of India. "The visit would go a long way in moulding the young and innocent children with impressionable minds towards aligning their outlook with the national mainstream," the statement said. In his address Gen Singh briefed the youth about importance of this type of event in their life since they are moving out of the state of Jammu and Kashmir for the first time. He termed the participating children as ambassadors of the state and advised them to make full use of knowledge gained from this tour and also share the experiences with his friends and relatives. |
