| HSS flays state govt for 'hiking passengers fares' | | | Jammu, Dec 7: Hindustan Shiv Sena (HSS) expressed serious concerns over the decision of the state Govt to enhance the fares of passenger transport. in a joint media interaction President Dimpy Kohli and General Secretary G I Singh said the state government succumbing to the pressure of the transporters had further burdened the already burdened common man who is finding diffult to meet both ends to meet in this price hike era. "Fares of the buses, matadors, authorikshaws are already enhanced are so high that regular commuters are facing a lot of problem and another hike of 14.40% will make it more difficult, they said adding, "We are also not against the transports who demand for hikes in passenger transport due to hike in diesel prices but Sena demands govt to reduce VAT on diesel and petrol which is 21%. "Other duties like excise and custom duties too needs to be reduced as already done by other states, they added. Pertinently responding to the transporters strike state govt has proposed 14.40% hike in fares of buses, 13.49% in respect of mini buses, 13.49% in respect of mini buses, 12.93% in taxis and 8.81% in authorikshaws. Hindustan Shiv sena also appeals to Chief Minister not to allow FDI retail in Jammu and Kashmir as it is the prerogative of the State Govt to allow or not to allow FDI in retail.
