| DB Constitutes Committee to hold meet with oil companies | | Suo-Moto PIL regarding shortage of LPG | |
early times report Jammu, Dec 10 (JNF): In the much publicized Suo-Moto PIL regarding the crises because of shortage of LPG gas due to cap announced by Central Govt, A Special Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice JP Singh directed meeting of Oil companies, Divisional Commissioners Jammu & Srinagar, Sr. Adv DC Rai-na, ASGI KK Pangotra, AA-G Seema Shekhar and Adv R Koul be held in the office of Divisional Comm-issioner Jammu on Dec-ember 13, 2012 to devise a mechanism which may help in tiding over the problems of Gas Supply to the large number of consumers in both the provinces of Srinagar & Jammu. Special Division Bench directed MD JAKFED would also participate in the meeting and file his own independent report. Division Bench also said that all the stake holders shall ponder over and evolve at least some adhoc solution for supply of gas keeping in view the extreme winter season which is fast approa-ching particularly in valley. Division Bench further directed that the report may be prepared and produce on next date of hearing in addition to the report to be submitted by the Managing Director JAKFED. In pursuance of the earlier directions issued by the Special Division Bench, Divisional Commissioners Jammu & Kashmir have been filed status reports along with reports of Deputy Commissioners. The Oil Companies have also filed their consolidated affidavit. Sr. Adv DC Raina Court Counsel has pointed out that there is wide difference between the number of consumers projected in the Status report of the Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commiss-ioners and that of oil companies. The affidavit of Gas companies shows that they would be able to open 65 additional distributorship under Rajiv Gandhi Gramin LPG Vitrak Yjna (RGGLVY) by December 30, 2012.
