Land grabbers annex Hospital land

Rajouri, Dec 10: Around 30 kanals of agriculture land to be transferred to the district hospital has been encroached upon by the people living around the hospital. The Superintendent, Dr Chaman Bhasin confirmed the encroachment.
A detailed project prepared by J&K Project Construction Corporation (JKPCC) for the construction of boundary wall, to cover the entire 90 kanals of hospital land, with a cost of Rs 2.36 crore has also been forwarded to Director Health Services by Dr Zahoor Shawl, CMO Rajouri.
But owing to delay in releasing of funds this land become soft target of the land grabbers; however, Chief Medical Officer and Superintendent of hospital have approached the DDC and Director Health Services to intervene in the matter.
After coming to know about the encroachment Dr Bhasin, Superintendent hospital informed Sougat Biswas, DDC vide his office letter no. MS/DHR/2012-13 dt 1/5/12 to take necessary action in this matter.
It is important to mention here that vide his office letter no SQ/679-84 dated 15/9/2012 DDC has directed Tehsildar Rajouri to immediately demarcate the 30 kanal agriculture land, which is under transfer to district hospital, in the presence of Superintendent and JKPCC representatives so that they can on spot erect cement poles to mark the boundary line. The Tehsildar, however, has not initiated the process. He had no explanation to offer for the delay.
Dr Chaman said, "It's true that the prime land of the hospital has been continuously become target of grabbers in absence of compound wall. We have also informed department of Health, local administration and Chief Medical Officer, Rajouri of the serious issue but, no positive steps have been taken so far."
Shafiq Ahmed, JKPCC official when contacted admitted that 30 kanals of Government land which is under process of being transferred to district hospital has been encroached. "To stop such activities in future we have done temporary barbed fencing around the hospital building and vacant land," said Shafiq adding as soon as the funds would be available we will start construction work of boundary wall.
DDC Rajouri Sougat Biswas has written to concerned authorities to immediately settle the issue by constructing a boundary wall.
