Early Times Report
jammu, Dec 10: The BJP protest in support of the plight of refugees on the Human Rights Day today proved to be a flop show as no response was given to Party’s call by the refugees.
Though the Party MP and Party’s national incharge human Rights Cell Avinash Khanna missing his day at Rajya Sabha which is in Session and covered a large distance to reach here to participate in Party’s programme in connection with Human Rights Day but the MP felt dejected seeing the response of public at the protest venue.
Though BJP local leadership and organizers had claimed the participation of refugees from West Pakistan, PoK, Chamb and displaced people from Kashmir Valley, hilly reaches of Jammu region, other militancy victims and jawans of home guards fighting for their rights over years tighter but the gathering was not convincing as a handful people from these organizations had attended the protest.
This indicates that BJP’s popularity is declining day by day after the 2010 cross voting episode and present infighting and leadership tussle in its state unit.
According to sources the coterie which rules the roost in the party has not stopped misguiding the Party leadership as yet despite the fact that it suffered a humiliating defeat in recently held MLC elections under Panchayat quota. Sources said the BJP which was considered a party with difference some time in past and had a dedicated cadre is the victim of infighting in J&K. The failure of coordination among the party activists and leaders over the important issues ahs been one of the main causes for the Party’s dismal performance in recently held MLC elections as well as organizing the demonstration in front of Raj Bhawan today, sources added.
Sources said that Party cadres are ganging to outwit each other which has given rise to complete chaos and confusion among the Party cadres.
Sources said the Party media cell which was considered one of the best media cells among all organizations with a dedicated and media friendly office bearers feel now totally dejected and neglected with the interference of some new comers who try to overpower them and dislodge them from their routine work.
Such a behavior of some outspoken Partymen is harming the BJP’s cause to a great extent in the state as instead of working on the ground these activists believe in manipulating the things.
Sources said the state of affairs has deteriorated in the Party to such an extent that various senior leaders were not informed about today’s protest to observe World Human Rights Day. While out of four Party MLAs only one had managed to reach the venue while two others were absent.
Same was the case with senior party leaders as the organizers had preferred to inform only selected men giving the impression that the programme was their personnel property. Sources said that it was totally childish for the Party and organizers that after inviting an MP for Delhi to protest for violation of human rights of refugees that the state unit failed to make it a show of strength for the Party and what can be more intriguing for the leadership that even the leader of Home Guards had not obliged the organizers by participating in the dharna and to the utter humiliation of organizers when the name of leader was called for addressing the dharna she was no where in sight. Same was the case with other senior BJP leaser he did not turn up despite his name was called by announcer to speak. Later the Raj Bhawan also disappointed BJP leadership after the Governor House did not allow the delegation to visit there to submit the memorandum and in turn asked them to handover the same to one of the cops at venue of dharna.
