Saahil Suhail Srinagar, Dec 27: In a special felicitation ceremony organized here today Inspector General of CRPF S S Sandhu honoured twenty Jawans of Central Reserve Police Force, who actively participated in Sopore Encounter along with Jammu Kashmir Police and Army. Addressing felicitation ceremony at District Police lines Baramullah, IG CRPF said, "It is gives me immense pleasure to honour troopers as it depicts that our jawans are well trained to combat anti-insurgency operations." He said the participation in various anti insurgency operations the confidence about combat skills among our jawans is increasing day by day. IG CRPF, S S Sindhu, who along with several other officers honoured twenty Jawans of 179 Battalion for showing their exemplary courage during 'Sopore encounter' presented cash reward of fifty thousand rupees. "From past three months militancy related activities increased inside north Kashmir and especially because of the group that got eliminated in Sopore, in which you (Jawans) put your efforts and got success." IG applauding his troops said. "You have done a lot to uproot militancy, to bring peace and prosperity in the valley and will continue yours sincere efforts," he added. On the occasion, IG CRPF was informed that troops of 179 and 177 Battalions have participated in several anti-militancy operation from past three months, during which 13 militants were successfully eliminated. Earlier after inaugurating, a free medical camp at Phethkoot Bandipora under civic action program, Inspector General of Central Reserve Police force (CRPF) ruled out revocation of armed forces special Powers Act (AFSPA) and said, "I am not of the opinion that revoke AFSPA but I am simply saying that we doing operations with the support of Public and so when we have support of public in those operations we need not use AFSPA and if we lost Public support at that time we can use it." He said that militancy in Kashmir is day by day decreasing, However at the same time he said that militants are continuously trying to revive it again the valley especially in the northern side. Commenting on free medical camps being conducted under Civic Action Program, IG CRPF said, "We are trying to bridge the gap between the public and the security forces through Civic Action Programmes aimed to bring better health care to the door step of the locals living far away from the urban locations. |
