Jammu, Dec 27: Police have arrested a robber who had allegedly snatched Rs 60000 from one Vinod Wazir at Punjab National Bank (PNB) Badherwah branch on December 10. Police said Mohammad Ashraf, 23, had snatched Rs 60000 from Wazir when the latter was depositing the same in PNB Badherwah branch. "Vinod had withdrawn an amount of Rs 60000 from J&K Bank Bhaderwah and was in process of deposition the same in accounts of his daughters in PNB Bhaderwah. The robber followed the victim right from J&K Bank and was looking for an opportunity to overpower him and snatch the money. When the victim was filling in the pay-in-slip for depositing the money and was focused on the process of filling the requisite form the robber managed to snatch the money, mobile phone, pension book and pass book which was in a bag," police said. The robber was caught in CCTV footage of PNB which gave Police a lead. "The robber had discarded the original SIM card of the victim but had not discarded the mobile phone of the victim which gave further lead in identifying him. On analyzing the used details of the snatched mobile Police identified and arrest the accused," police added. A police team headed by one NGO was rushed to the location of the accused by Superintendent of Police Doda, Mohammad Arif Rishu who arrested the robber and subsequently recovered amount of Rs 60000 and mobile phone. Case FIR No. 174/2012 u/s 454, 382 RPC has been registered at Police Station Bhaderwah. |
