| 1100 dis-engaged GREF labourers hold protests in Kishtwar | | |  Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Dec 27: Several disengaged GREF laborers today held a strong protest outside DC office Kishtwar and later sat on dharna inside the DC Office Complex Kishtwar protesting against the disengagement from the job by the GREF authorities executing construction work on Kishtwar-Sinthan-Srinagar National Highway. The agitating GREF workers demanded incentives as per the laborer laws including final award before being disengaged. As per reports GREF officials at Kishtwar disengaged nearly 1100 laborers from job were working with the organization since last 18-20 years. The agitating labourers criticized their disengagement during winter season and termed the move of Commanding Officer 118 RCC GREF Kishtwar as inhuman. They said after being disengaged their family members are at the verge of starvation and threatened to intensify their agitation in case their demands are not met. The agitating laborer gives an ultimatum of one week to the GREF authorities to address their grievances before they move ahead with the agitation. The agitating labourers lift the dharna after the intervention of former Minister and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori and the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Saleem Mohammad Chowdhary. They assured them that they will take up the matter with the Labour minister as well as with honorable Chief Minister for viable solution to their genuine demands. |
