| Police solves PNB theft case | | | early times report Kishtwar, Dec 27: Doda police claims to have solved a theft of Rs. 60000 that took place at Punjab National Bank at Bhaderwah on 10.12.2012. According to Doda police, an incident of robbery took place at Punjab National Bank Bhaderwah in which one Vinod Wazir S/o Duni Chand Wazir R/o Sarol Bagh Bhaderwah had withdrawn an amount of Rs.60000/- (Sixty thousand) from Jammu and Kashmir Bank Bhaderwah and was in process of deposition of same in account of his daughter in Punjab National Bank Bhaderwah when he was robbed of the money. The robber was following the victim right from Jammu and Kashmir Bank where from he had withdrawn the money and was in search of an opportunity to overpower the victim and snatch the money. He continued following the victim upto Punjab National Bank, where victim was filling in the pay-in-slip for depositing the money and was focused on the process of filling the requisite form when robber got the opportunity and managed to snatch the money which was contained in a bag also carrying a mobile phone, pension book, and pass book of the J&K Bank. The victim tried to chase and catch hold of the robber but being aged he was not able to follow him when the robber fled away. The robber was caught in CCTV footage of Punjab National Bank also on which Police was working but significant lead was got by Police on the cell phone which the robber had taken along with the money. The robber had discarded the original SIM card of the victim but he had not discarded the mobile phone of the victim which gave lead in identifying the robber. On analyzing the used details of the snatched mobile by the victim, Police was able to pin point, identify and locate the robber who was identified as Mohammad Ashraf S/o Wali Moha-mmad R/o Kathawa Tehsil Thathri aged 23 years. Subsequently a police team headed by one NGO was rushed to the location of the accused by Superintendent of Police Doda, Mohammad Arif Rishu who arrested the robber and subsequently recovered amount of Rs.60,000/- and the mobile phone also on the instance of the robber. Case FIR No. 174/2012 u/s 454, 382 RPC stands already registered at Police Station Bhaderwah.
