Anantnag, Dec 31: Jammu and Kashmir Congress Party President, Professor Saif-ud-Din Soz today urged the Hurriyat Conference to engage with New Delhi. He also expressed dismay over delay in Cabinet expansion. He was addressing a public meeting at Kheribal, Anantnag in South Kashmir.
On the sidelines of the meeting Soz was asked to comment on Hurriyat's engagement with Islamabad. He said: "I do not know what Pakistan told them. I am an Indian and I would advise them to engage with New Delhi without delay. The doors of our Prime Minister are always open."
On Cabinet expansion he said Congress was dismayed over the delay. "I cannot tell why Omar Abdullah has delayed the expansion. You better ask him", he said. While Soz made this statement, the activists raised slogans demanding induction of MLA Dooru Ghulam Ahmad Mir in the Cabinet.
Pertinent to mention the Chief Minister had promised Cabinet expansion after Legislative Council elections. The elections were held early this month but Omar seems in no mood to fulfil his promise.
Earlier, Soz welcomed some activists of National Conference and People’s Democratic Party who joined Congress. In his elcome statement, he said. "Good, now you have found the right track because Congress does not believe in divisive politics."
While addressing the gathering, he assured them that their problems will be redressed on priority basis. He announced a water supply scheme for the area as the area sans drinking water. He was accompanied by Senior Congress leaders including Ghulam Nabi Monga, MLA Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Hilal Ahmad Shah and others.
