| Ripples in BJP: Has State chief conceded Nagrota seat to NC….? | | Jugal sharing stage with Rana | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 29: It has now almost become official that BJP MLA , the new State chief of the party Jugal Kishore Sharma has surrendered his political constituency to NC 's most powerful man and Political Advisor to Chief Minister Devinder Singh Rana. That the duo despite being political rivals were having proximity was already known in political circles. It became evident on Friday when both shared a common yet unusual platform , with utmost levels of comfort and visible compatibility. A picture during a Kissan Mela clicked it all. However, the moments of proximity they shared have become a matter of anxiety for the entire unit of BJP. A sort of controversy has again erupted in the State unit of BJP with Jugal comfortably sharing stage with Rana at Nagrota . A section of State party leaders have taken a serious exception to it. Soon after the news spread in Party office in Jammu some senior leaders while taking strong exception to it said will Mehbooba Mufti president PDP or its patriarch Mufti Mohammad Sayeed or for that matter even Congress president Saif-ud-Din Soz join such a function with any NC leader or Minister in their own constituencies. According to sources a section of BJP leaders while taking strong note to the style of working of new State president said this way he is going mortgage the Party to NC which was already apprehended by them and this was the reason that they had suggested names of other two party leaders for the top most post of the Party in the State. Sources said such a style of functioning of the new State BJP chief will lead Party to nowhere and bring a bad image to it. They are of the opining that compromising formula was not even adopted by former president of the Party Shamsher Singh Manhas and at the occasions he took a strong stand against the ruling alliance and exposed them for the wrong doing and anti people policies and anti-Jammu polices. But the first impression given by the new incumbent to the post shows that Jugal Kishore Sharma has surrendered every thing to NC and Political Advisor to CM. Moreover, by visiting along with the Advisor to CM to a Kissan Mela in a tractor trolley, the BJP chief has given impression among the local electorate that his party's good wishes are with Rana who most probably is working on the formula to contest the Nagrota seat on NC ticket. Jugal who was more interested in becoming a party chief than to contest the next elections from Nagrota has virtually conceded the seat to NC, sources said, adding the party men feel confused with the style of functioning of the new Party chief. Sources said one of the strong section of the Party which is lobbying for re -entry of all seven expelled MLAs led by Prof Chaman Lal Gupta to Party have categorically in a message to Party High Command asked if seven MLAs were axed for cross voting why not the action will be taken against those party leaders who have made the State unit of BJP as B Team of NC saying good bye to those principles on which its foundation was laid. Sources said one of the contenders for the Party chief had even made it categorical to High Command that in case he is elected as Party chief the return of expelled Party MLAs would be a top thing on his agenda, the formula to which the Jugal and his supporters are deadly opposed to. Sources said the Party leaders feel that Sharma in addition to the local MLA of Nagrota is the State party chief and his responsibilities have increased many fold. So it was not appropriate for a leader like him to dance behind the NC leader to remain in good books of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and NC patriarch Dr Farooq Abdullah. Sources said if Mr Sharma will not impose self restrictions on his style of working the BJP in the State will be divided in various factions and High Command will be directly held responsible for the same. Some local party leaders in their memorandums submitted to national leadership have informed them about the same as well as their feelings, sources added. |
