| GDC Kishtwar celebrates Annual Day | | | early times report
Kishtwar, Dec 29: Government Degree college today celebrated Annual Day of the college by organizing a colorful function in college premises . MLA Kishtwar Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo was the chief guest on the occasion . The function began with the lighting of traditional lamp by the chief guest on the occasion .While speaking on the occasion , he said that keeping in view of heavy inflow of students in GDC Kishtwar, there is urgent need of opening of Women College at Kishtwar and said that his mission in this regard is on right track. He said that he is hopeful that soon Degree College for women will start functioning at Kishtwar. He said that besides opening of Women College at Kishtwar, his top priority is to fight for sanctioning of Degree College at Padder. He said that construction of boys and girls hostel at Kishtwar is also on his agenda of priority and said that in the month of April 2013, the work of construction will be started.
Kichloo on this occasion also release the first college newsletter "Kungposh" and announced Rs 5 lakhs to college development funds out of his CDF. He also give away Rs. 10000 out of his monthly pay to those students who performed cultural item and bring laurel to the college by securing top positions in various categories including excellence in University examinations and debates. He also promises to provide money for organizing a picnic of college students to Sinthan Top in the month of June 2013.
Earlier Principal Degree College Kishtwar Dr. Shafqat Rifiqi in his welcome address highlights the various achievements of Degree College Kishtwar. He extended his thanks to MLA Kishtwar for his overall support given by him to the college administration. He also highlighted the problems faced by the college authorities including shortage of space in laboratories, developing of college library, encroachment of college land. MLA Kishtwar while reacting to the demands raised by the college principal assured the gather that he will make all his efforts to bring modern facilities at GDC Kishtwar and also assured that he will take up the matter of problems faced by the GDC Kishtwar with honorable Chief Minister as well as with Higher Education Minister for redresser of the same. He also distributed the prizes among the students who tops in various curricular and extracurricular activities. |
