EARLY TIMES REPORT KATHUA, Dec 29: Sandhu Club Ludhiana today sailed into the semifinals after they registered a fine 23 runs win over Gurdaspur XI in the 3rd Police Martyrs' North Zone Twenty20 Cricket Championship underway at Sports Stadium, here. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Sandhu Club set a target of 115 runs for the loss of five wickets, which, in reply, Gurdapur XI could not chase and exhausted their quota of 20 overs for 91 runs losing eight wickets. Bhalla and Ravi were top scorers from Sandhu Club with 35 and 34 runs respectively. Gourav Gambhir contributed 24 runs. From Gurdapur XI, Mattoo, Parampal and Vikram took one wicket each. Later, chasing a target of near six-run per over, Gurdaspur XI could make 91 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Harman and Tinu were main contributors with 24 and 18 runs in their respective accounts. Varun and Mac Gill took two wickets each while Gourav and Gurpreet shared apiece each. For his all-round performance, Gourav was declared man of the match. He was presented the cash prize of Rs 1500 and trophy by contractor, Amarjit Singh. |
