Prof Chaman disputes tall claims of coalition for equity in development
12/29/2012 11:43:47 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 29: Disp-uting the claims of the ruling leaders about the development and progress on equitable basis, the former union minister and MLA, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta alleged that the ground realities are quite different to that of professions.
In a press statement issued today Prof Gupta referred to the awful conditions of the roads, ever increasing congestion, growing pollution as also the insanitation. He regretted that not only in many of the far flung areas and rural link roads, even in the capital city of Jammu in most areas the things are far from being satisfactory.
"Chaotic situation prevails in many areas including Jewel Chowk to Talab Tillo, B C Road to Janipura and in many other places, neither work for widening of the roads have been taken up nor the construction of flyovers in such areas is being put under the carpet but for political and other considerations, he added.
He also pointed out that traffic jams and other such like problems are facing the people. Even the much claimed traffic lights are not functioning properly.
Pointing out to the growing pollution, Prof Gupta referred to the plight of Tawi stream, which is in many ways sacred for Jammuites, is being converted into a dirty nallah as the concerned authorities, including the civic body and others are turning a deaf ear to dump garbage without any measure to have proper disposal of waste.
Prof Gupta ridiculed the claims about the good governance and questioned the ruling leaders that why the civic elections were not held and the public cry for sanitation and other measures is not being given due consideration.
