EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 4: To express deep anguish and concern over callous and dilly-dallying attitude of the depar-tment, a protest demonstration was held by Water Works (PHE) Employees Association, Jammu under the Leadership of Shiv Kumar Sharma, the State President INTUC, at PHE Office, B.C Road, Jammu. The annoyed demonstrators raised anti-administration slogans and warn-ed them against anti-worker policies, the consequences of which could be unpleasant. Shiv Kumar Sharma, the State President of the INTUC, who also is Provincial President of the Water (PHE) Employees Association, Jammu Province. While addressing the gathering, he advised the administration to properly look after the property of the department. He said," The fate of genuine applications/representations of the field staff is quite uncertain in most of the cases, he alleged. He condemned the policy of engaging Daily rated/ C.P workers "in bulk" whereas payment of already engaged workers wages is pending for months. Sharma stressed upon the concerned authorities to address the problems of the PHE workers immediately viz; release of pending due wages of the C.P workers and Daily wages, regularized the eligible Daily rated workers as permanent employees, convene the DPC meeting, ensure benefit of minimum wages to all the CP workers. He also called upon the Govt to enhance the minimum wages limit of the workers all over the State, so that they able to pull through in this age of inflation. The others who spoke on the occasion, endorsed and echoed the views of Shiv Kumar Sharma, They included Vinod Kumar, Raman Kumar, Ajay Sharma, and others. |
