EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Jan 10 : Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand Thursday reiterated Government's resolve to give focussed attention towards urban and sub-urban areas of the State in respect of infrastructure development for providing best possible facilities to the people. The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing a high level officers meeting of Housing and Urban Development Department here today convened to review the pace of progress of various schemes under State Plan as well as schemes funded by Central Government which include Urban Infrastructure Development of Small and Medium Towns (UIDSMT), town drainage and infrastructure development. Commissioner/Secretary Housing and Urban Development, Jeet Lal Gupta, Vice Chairman LAWDA, Irfan Yaseen, Director Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir, Shamim Ahmad Leharwal, Joint Director Information Kashmir, Bashir Ahmad Khan, Deputy Director Planning, Mir Mushtaq Ahmad and officers of Housing and Urban Development attended the meeting. The Deputy Chief Minister said that Government has initiated several programmes for giving better look to Sub Urban areas by developing lanes, drains, extending safe drinking water and construction approaches to various villages connecting district headquarters. He said that construction of community centres has been speeded up for providing accommodation while organizing various social events in the complex. |
