| PDP leader slams Govt for ignoring Urdu in new ration cards | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Kishtwar, Jan 10: Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and former District President Kishtwar Shakir Hussain Siddiqui today criticized the state government for ignoring Urdu in new ration cards issued by Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department (CAPD). In a statement he said that despite the fact that Urdu being official language of J&K, the state government under "well planned conspiracy" has removed Urdu from the ration cards. He said that majority of J&K people are Urdu knowing "but the discriminatory decision of J&K government of ignoring Urdu is condemnable act done at behest of the government in power." Siddiqui claimed there is great resentment and anger among the common masses against the National Conference led coalition government and alleged that they are trying to disturb peace of the state by indulging in such mischievous acts. He also criticized the CAPD minister Qamar Ali Akhoon and held him responsible for creating "such a mess." While cautioning the government to desist from this practice, Siddiqui demanded that new ration cards should be issued to the consumers wherein all data should be in Urdu. He said that he had no objection over inclusion of Hindi or any other language in the ration cards, "but not at the cost of state official language." |
