| CJ inaugurates five fast track courts for trail of rape cases | | | early times report Jammu, Jan 10 (JNF): On suggestion of the Chief Justice of India for setting-up fast track courts to try the offences rape and related cases involving offences against women, Chief Justice of the State High Court in tune with the policy to use tools of modern technology for faster administration of justice inaugurated four courts earmarked as Fast Track Courts in Kashmir Division through video conferencing. Today Chief Justice of J&K High Court MM Kumar inaugurated five fast tracks in State of J&K. According to the Registrar General J&K High Court Suresh Sharma the Chief Justice MM Kumar has inaugurated the court of 3rd Additional District & Sessions Judge Jammu (TADA/POTA) Jammu as a fast track Court to try the offences of rapes and related cases involving offences against Women. The Chief Justice has also inaugurated four other Fast Track Courts in Kashmir Province through Video Conferencing. Courts designated as Fast Tracks Courts are 2nd Additional District & Sessions Judge Srinagar, 1st Additional District & Sessions Judge Baramulla, Additional District & Sessions Judge Anantnag and Additional District & Sessions Judge Pulwama. At this occasion Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir and Justice Hasnain Massodi and prominent lawyers, Govt dignitaries and law officers were also present. These fast tracks court have been created by the State High Court based on the urgency of expeditious trial of rape cases and the fact that justice delayed is justice denied and that deterrence pales into insignificance due to the delay. The Chief Justice during interaction with the judges of the said courts impressed upon them their obligation to deliver timely justice. J&K High Court has also sought the creation of ten Fast Track Courts of the rank of Civil Judge (Senior Division) Sub Judge (JMIC) in the state of Jammu and Kashmir to try the cases pertaining to offences against women at Magistrate level. |
