EARLY TIMES REPORT Hiranagar, Jan 16: To highlight the long pending demands of border people, the Border RBA Action Committee organized a 'sit- in' at Hiranagar here today. The protestors demanded to provide the benefits of RBA category to the people living on IB border from Paharpur (Kathua) to Akhnoor at par with people living on LoC. Led by Advocate Ranjit Singh, the convener of the committee the protestors alleged the state government for not paying attention to the demands of the border area people who are suffering for a long time. Targeting the ruling alliance, Ranjit Singh said, "Jammu and Kashmir is being ruled by congress and NC since 1947 till date but the government has adopted discriminatory and apathetic attitude towards border area and let the people deprived of the basic amenities." The protestors demanded to provide the benefits of RBA category to the people living on IB border from Paharpur (Kathua) to Akhnoor at par with people living on LoC in civil. They demanded reservations in armed forces services and admission in professional institute, Urdu to be made compulsory at schools, to implement the Roshani Act and revocation of new recruitment policy and etc. |
