| Govt. teachers accuse former DSE of harassment, despotism | | | Avinash Azad Jammu, Jan 16: Government teachers have accused Former Director School Education M A Qureshi of harassment and totalitarianism by affecting midterm transfers and withholding promotions accorded by the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC). "Under the DPC conducted on August 28, 2012, about 1150 teachers and 130 Masters were promoted, but the orders remained in the Director’s office due to vested interests. However, after negotiation, DSE released DPC orders and benefited the 130 promoted Head Masters" said a teacher preferring anonymity. He further said that Qureshi had been depriving the teacher community of their legitimate due since he joined as DSE, Jammu. "There was acute shortage of staff in schools of Jammu division. Promotion lists of Masters and Headmasters were laying pending in the Directorate, it was another reason for the poor results" the teacher added. "After DPC we met, the then DSE, but, he in no way recognized our demands' ha said and claimed that a huge transfers and attachment of the teachers and masters were made by the then DSE. He further alleged that government Schools in the city have more strength of teachers than students. Most of the transfers are being made in the city. Master and Lecturers were transferred frequently from city to city and only blue eyed persons were considered" he maintained. A group of teachers also alleged that the DSE had reduced the ZEOs and the CEOs as mere instruments of getting his irrational orders implemented. |
