9 killed, 13 sustain injuries in Doda minibus accident

KISHTWAR, Jan 16: At least 9 persons were killed and 13 others injured most of them critically in another road accident in Chenab valley, 3rd in last one week when a minibus bearing registration No: JK06-1389 in which they were traveling skidded off the road and fell into 200 feet deep gorge near Bhalla some 20 KM from District headquarters Doda of Jammu and Kashmir. The ill-fated vehicle was on its way from Doda to Bhaderwah when it skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge at Bhalla at around 3 PM today. As per officials details, five persons died on the spot and four others succumbed to their injuries enroute to District hospital at Doda. Among the 13 other injured persons shifted to District Hospital Doda, eight were shifted to Government Medical College Jammu in view of their critical condition.
As soon as the news of accident reached Doda, officials of District administration, large number of local people and Police Party from Police Post Bhalla immediately rushed to the spot and evacuated the dead and injured to nearby Hospital. Even though the District administration and police reached the spot, the critically injured passengers could not be airlifted to GMC Jammu by chopper due to inclement weather conditions and were shifted by road from Doda. Police have registered the case and started its investigation.
As per police, the persons who died on spot were identified as Kirandeep (42 yrs) Son of Kishori Lal resident of Udrana Bhaderwah, Rinku Devi (35 yrs) Daughter of Raj Kumar resident of Gatha Bhaderwah, Pushpa Devi (60 yrs) Wife of Late Kirshan Lal resident of Drafra, Sajad Ali (27 yrs) Son of Sadiq Ali Resident of Azadpur (Jamshedpur) Jharkhand, and Asma Begum (24 yrs) Wife Nazir Husssain resident of Sehnai. The other four persons who died enroute to District Hospital Doda were identified as Shahid Hussain Son of Anayatullah resident of Malnai Pranoo, Janki Nath Resident of Malothi Bhalla,Nissar Ahmed Son of Abdul Rashid resident of Malnai Pranoo and Om Raj (40 yrs) Son of Jagat Ram resident of Gutasa .The critically eight injured persons who were shifted to GMC Jammu are Swarna Devi (30 yrs) Wife of Rajesh Kumar resident of Soura Chabbri Bhalla, Lakshmi (16 yrs) Daughter of Rajesh Kumar resident of Soura Chabbri Bhalla, Sansar Chand (45 yrs) Son of Janki Nath resident of Malothi, Rohit Sharma (42 yrs) Son of Krishan Chand resident of Neota Bhaderwah, Krishan Lal Kotwal (41 yrs) Son of Gori Lal resident of Khari Dhradu,Jigar (3 yrs) Son of Talib Hussain resident of Sarsi Trown, Nissar Ahmed (55 yrs) Son of Sona Bhat resident of Kursari Bhaderwah and Asia Hamid (23 yrs) Wife of Talib Hussain resident of Sarsi Trown . The injured presently undergoing treatment at District Hospital Doda are Abra Hamid (15 yrs) Daughter of Abdul Hamid resident of Qilla Mohalla Bhaderwah, Aliya Begum (32 yrs) Wife of Riaz Ahmed resident of Chinote Bhaderwah, Irshad Hussain (24 yrs) Son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Kursoo Khelani, Mool Raj (48yrs) Son of Mulayam Chand resident Gurekha Seri and Rutba Tabassam (2 ½ yrs) Daughter of Riaz Ahmed resident of Chinote.
According to doctors, all the five injured persons presently undergoing treatment at District Hospital Doda are responding to the treatment and doctors are monitoring their recovery closely. The condition of all the five is said to be out of danger.
