| City Club lifts CEC Hockey trophy for record 4th time | | | Early Times Report
KARGIL, Jan 24: City Club Drass lifted the 6th CEC Rolling Ice Hockey Championship for record fourth time in a row by outplaying Nindum Khangral 15-01 thereby making it a one-sided contest at Ice Hockey Rink Biamathang, here. In all, 12 teams, representing different clubs, took part in this four-day knock-out event under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS). Mohammad Ismail of City Club Drass was adjudged man of the match for scoring six goals in the final. He also bagged man of tournament trophy for his outstanding performance of 14 goals. In the valedictory function of the Championship, Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. Executive Councilor for Agriculture and Revenue LAHDC Kargil Haji Ghulam Amir Kamran was the guest of gonour. He presented consolation prizes amongst the players. Speaking to the gathering, the CEC said that the LAHDC has decided to promote Winter Sports at block level in an attempt to tap the hidden talent and then groom them into achievers at the national and international level. He disclosed that by the next year an international standard Winter Sports infrastructure will be in place with Central assistance from Special Task Force. In the meantime, international players, Mohammad Iqbal and Nissar were of the opinion told that there should be practice rinks in every villages of Kargil so that he youths of this far-flung border districts can contribute to the development of sports in the country. Prominent among others present were Councilors, Haji Ibrahim and Syed Razvi, CEO KDA Khadim Hussain Munshi. |
