| One day training programme held at SKUAST | | | early times report Jammu, Jan 24 : The Division of Post Harvest Technology of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu organized SKUAST-J organized one-day training programme on 24th of January,2013 at Hiranagar under Horticulture Technology Mission Mode. The training programme entitled 'Processing of hill lemon under Jammu sub-tropics' was aimed for empowerment of women folk and was conducted under Prof. D.K Arora Director Research Dr. Ajay Koul. On the onset of the training programme Dr. Monika Sood, Principal Investigator of the project highlighted the importance of such trainings cum demonstration programmes to the women-folk, young girls and unemployed youth. She also discussed about the importance of Hill lemon, aonla and demonstrated their preserved products viz squash, pickle and candy. Dr Julie Dogra imparted the knowledge about processing and preservation techniques of fruits and vegetables which are highly perishable commodities. This particular training programme was conducted in collaboration with KVK Kathua. The training programme was highly appreciated by the trainees and they requested for more such type of awareness camps in the near future. The other officials present in this occasion were Manmeet Kaur, Dr. Neerja, Dr Anamika and Shalini. |
