JAMMU, Feb 4: University of Jammu (JU) today reached the pre-quarterfinals stages of the ongoing North Zone (Men) Inter-University Basketball Tournament at Chhtrapatai Sahuji Maharaj University Kanpur. As per the reports reaching here, in the second round match played today against higher rated Kurukshetra University, which turned out to be a cliff hanger, JU emerged winner 38-36, after trailing 19-16 at the half time.
Both teams matched each other in height and skill, but while JU boys combined well to thwart offensive moves of the rivals, captain Ranbir Singh and lanky Shubham Sharma put up spirited performances to net baskets at crucial junctures. They were ably assisted by Salinder Singh, Sachin Dogra, Karan Kumar and Sushant Sharma.
Now, in the pre-quarters, JU shall meet the winners of the match between PTU Jullandhar and LPU Phagwara, tomorrow. |
