| Music must for overall personality development of a person: Sopori | | | Jammu, Feb 6: The ongoing Annual SaMaPa Aalap Festival 2013, being presented in collaboration with the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, J&K Police and Department of Tourism, Jammu, witnessed enchanting musical notes on the 6th Day of the festival. The festival acts like a musical balm creating cultural awareness and new avenues for the younger generation to come forward with career in the field of music. The concert session at the Govt. College for Women, Parade commenced with mesmerizing Sitar recital by Prof. Anupam Mahajan, a renowned musician from Delhi. She presented Alaap, Vilambit and Drutlaya Teentaal in Raga Ahir Bhairav demonstrating various laykari patterns. Earlier Abhay Sopori spoke to the children and said that they are the future torchbearers of the culture of the country. He said music leads to overall personality development of a person making him more sensitive and balanced human being. He said that each child needs to understand that music is far above mere entertainment and the art and culture has to be placed at the same level where we keep Education, Tourism, defense as the growth of a civilization also depends upon its culture. He also spoke about the Child Labour issue requesting young students to deny shopping from a place where a child is working and tell the owner why they took this step so that he is forced to release. The management of the college thanked Abhay Rustum Sopori and SaMaPa for organizing the concert and enlightening the young children. |
