| A live programme that survives on archival footage | | | Javaid Naiko
srinagar, Feb 6: Good Morning Kashmir-a show which was started on DD Kashir for achieving multiple objectives is fast losing its popularity-thanks to over dependence on archival footage and ‘inefficient' anchoring.
The morning show was started by ex-director Shami Shair to make the unheard voices of the people heard. Strategically Urdu was kept as the medium of the program, but strangely the title of the program was not in Urdu language but in English.
The anchoring of Masood Muntazir, the main anchor of the programme has also been questioned. He has been accused of dominating his co-anchors.
Many viewers also find it difficult to digest how one anchor of the show could go on speaking non-stop while as his co-anchor; a female nods her head only to say good morning JK in the end.
"His style of speaking is too intonated and unbearably slow though other channels change their anchors over a period of time, but DD Kashir has other ideas," said Hina Shaban a student.
Things were never transparent in DD Kashir, firstly the institution was in limelight for corruption cases and fair faced selection of Anchors by former director in which one female anchor of the show who was shown the door and who after a brief stint filed a Right to Inform-ation Act (RTI) application asking as to why she was fired. The matter went out of hand when she shot footage of her performance to the higher ups in the Prasar Bharati Corporation in New Delhi and the former Director had a hard slog to save her chair.
DD Kashir also remained in headlines earlier when a female anchor was allegedly found in a compromising position with a National Conference legislator.
The Director had got the female anchor to do the show just one day after an FIR was registered against her. After the matter was brought in to the notice of the higher ups in Prasar Bharati Corporation, the Director was relieved from the post.
She was in trouble for other reasons as well. She had conferred favours on her niece who is an officer in the Board of School education. She was placed under suspension and is facing an enquiry. |
